SLK 230k Supercharger bearing / whine

Hi all, i've got a 2002 230k with 25k on the clock. Just recently the supercharger has started whining, a friend of mine used to work for merc and has opened the charger up and said that the bearing is going and has caused slight wear to the blades. ( obviously this is second hand info but looking for advice ). He doesn't know of anywhere local that can replace the bearing or recondition the supercharger.

Does anyone out there know of anywhere local (kent) that specialises either in servicing superchargers or recon'ing the unit itself. I'm a little hesistant about recon'd as the car is in superb condition and if possible i would go for new, obviously the price puts me off a little.

I have been "googling" away all morning.

I have e-mailed Dronsfield Mercedes, their name appeared a couple of times. Other companies that come up for new parts rather than reconditioned parts, Mercland and A1 merc centre.

The only other option I thought of would be breakers yards....

My preference would be to have a company or individual recommended rather than just going in cold.

I have been quoted £1300 for a new supercharger from Mercedes, I have no idea how much a reconditioned one would be or how difficult it would be to get hold of one.

Any advice gratefully received

if it is just the bearings then go for a repair, bearings are always replaceable, and usually easy to source.
