Hi Malcolm,

I don't get on this forum very often but saw this thread.

I belong to the Mercedes-Benz Club and co-wrote an article about this problem that appeared in the Gazette, the Club's monthly magazine recently. I sourced an improved relay and have repaired four CCM's to date for Club members. I do have spare relays (there was a minimum order quantity) so PM me if I can help.

The relay is not easy to change because of the amount of heat required. I'd recommend an SMD workstation to heat the relay chassis and an 80W iron to heat the pins.

Regards,

Tony

There was a flaw in that article, you can remove them without a soldering station, it takes a little longer but can be done without.

The other flaw was the article did not say where you could get hold of a replacement

Tony would you please ask on that forum where you can get the relay, that guy that did the article said that he had some.

Though I am a member I will never post again on that forum, it is no more than a play ground for that fat man that runs it.

If you can get a relay off the forum I can fit it.

I have some coming hopefully anyway, but have some language problems from the eastern supplier

Hi Malcolm W,

It would be great if you could provide feedback re the CCM article here or via the Club Forum and share your process for changing the relay.

In case you want to get your own stock of relays the part number I used was HG4119/012-1Z11-P from Willow Technologies. Minimum order was 25.

Thank you Tony, and welcome to the forum.

If 25 relays were bought for the one in your article, is it not possible to buy one of these, or have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick.

From my angle I have been removing things from multi layer boards for longer than I care to remember, and I am quite happy to do a follow up in the gazette

Speak the truth now, I was trying to post with a link as it was coming up to the drinking season, I was trying to edit the post to make the link work when dear bear closed it. I sent him a PM but of coarse no reply.
How come I have never been accused here of any such thing, I never swear hear or anywhere..

Now what is normal, like when I had not been there long when I spent 3 hours writing out a post where a guy could not start his engine, all of your regular guys had tried, but all to no avail. his engine started after my help, and a member commented on how nice that a new member (me went to all that trouble, you commented "we do not give thanks on this forum", and Stevie the poster left the club after your remarks.

The gear box thread was another where I posted 100% correct, your guys got things wrong, and you still do not have an MB engineer that has seen the inside of a MB workshop in 20 years.(well you might have now, but not then)
You hated it when anyone thanked me, and lets face it. kenny all you are fit for is posting silly smilies non stop.

Are all of the other forums wrong to when they say that your forum is a joke, and it is a good club ruined by the likes of you.

My only purpose here and elsewhere is to try and help members, I do my best and no more, and we handle more post than any other with a high success rate.

You will be hard pressed to find many complaints here about me, dont you think that a little odd

Televison - as always, your own personal reputation PRECEDES you... Your past history of being banned from a NUMBER of PUBLIC FORUMS is of your own doing...

Even after your ENFORCED DEPARTURE (which you claim was on your own accord according to your posting here), NO ONE including myself ever discussed/criticised you on the FORUM, didnt want to raise the matter... WE WANTED TO LET SLEEPING DOGS LIE... However, you have taken EVERY ruddy opportunity to poke and shove at us...

By all means HELP the whole world - no one will berate you for it... BUT please dont behave like a CHILD, grow up & take it on the chin like an ADULT for your actions... and we will all go on our merry way... BUT knowing you, you will always want to have the last word and spoil it for all...

First of all Kenny I have posted here and elsewhere that I am the most banned member of MB forums.

Please do not accuse me of lying over my departure, if I am banned, then please put banned against my name, and I would like that, thank you.

You say I have taken ever opportunity to poke at you and the forum, that is not true either, at the worst I have said that the club is excellent, but the forum is awful, you do not think so,,take a look at the unanswered post by new members on the first few pages, take a look at some of the answers and no one there has a clue with some of them with the way that they have replied to.

You say that you never criticized me, is not over writing or getting someone else to do it the same thing.

Lets just mention the worst one, a member asked how long a wheel bolt must be. A long standing member replied saying as long as there was 2mm or 2 threads going into the hub, that was OK. I replied saying that was very dangerous and wrong, 12mm is the minimum, all hell let lose on me over that post, how dare I upset a long standing member.

On forums it can be difficult to know what to do when answering post, I have asked on here is there a balance some how. For me I hate to see a new member come on and his post does not get an answer. If I know the answer then I reply, but it may look as though I am over posting, not too bad here as many post are shared by many. On a small forum it can look bad, I was accused of over posting on your site, so is it better to leave a new post unanswered or answer and make the guy feel welcome, do you know it does worry me that one even today.

I wish you well and I am sorry that it came to this, I seek pleasure in helping others if I can, no more and no less, giving up time to help others has cost me dearly in my private life, and I only blame myself for that,,,,,just that fascination of if its broke lets try and mend it.

My regards to you and the very good club

Kenny, on a nice note and this is not me having the last word.

You are technical director of that club, being totally non technical how do you cope in right and wrong post. You have also been on forums a lot longer than me. I do know that while I was posting on your site in the 1800 post that I did, only one was suspect, and that was a 210 heater control panel post, the others were all spot on.

Your gazette has a little block in it each month saying "have you visited the forum" When I looked at 3am this morning there were many post unanswered by new members, one guy asked 2 questions and no reply to either
I wonder how that guy felt, he was willing to have a go as well, I also noticed lots of chit chat had taken place at the same time, but no one had the decency to even welcome the guy, and there are loads of post the same, could I ask why please.

If a new guy comes along that can answer post politely, but this upsets old timers, who do you kill off ???

As earlier when I was posting, not one slipped by without an answer, and I could do all of the cars up to 2006 quite well along side 1985 on cars. Yes some said that I posted too much, and there was a thread about that and I backed right off and only answered post that had no answers or where a wrong reply had been given, for this I was given some thanks, but no answers to the problems.

How do you view the above please, I am very happy here, and I do a little in the USA when needed. this site has taken on some 2000 new members this year, I think that 99.9999 have had a reply and welcome from someone, and most are sorted, or as far as we can go. I am also proud to belong here, only one thread closed in 6 months and that was not for any abuse, but legal reasons. Our social side is now very good and plenty of meets.

This all hits me hard, I did not go to bed last night, neither do I come spying on your forum, it took me an hour to find an up to date pass word.

Just what is your view please of the above, thank you
