Sub Frame Issue on 2009 MB SLK

I have just received the news, while having my 2009 SLK in for MOT, that the Rear Subframe needs Replacing due to corrosion.
The MB dealership in Croydon have quoted me over £3k. I thought it was a mistake, but seems this is a common issue/fault
After doing some reseach, i am seeing, hearing different things.
Is this issue covered on lifetime warranty in the UK?
Is there a means to have the costs covered? Extended subframe warranty of 20 years?
What is the class action, I have seen mentioned?
Does the issue need to be raised to MBUK?

I really wasn't expecting al this, after having my 2002 SLK give me no trouble for over 10 years.

Started a thread for mine rather than post on the other subframe threads I noticed the below hole when changing the rear suspension - it wasn’t that obvious until I tapped it with a screwdriver… I booked it in with Mercedes - advised of £162 diagnostic fee (payable if Mercedes won’t cover it...

Yes, do pursue the claim upwards to MBUK at Milton Keynes if necessary most have success with this if the car is less than 20 years old

There is, I was talking to the service manager when mine went in and they’re doing them almost weekly. Mine was in and done within 10 days so Mb have obviously upped production of the subframes (or I was just lucky)

Despite telling me yesterday the fault was urgent, today they are telling me MB don’t pay for the job on SLKs.
And that their camera isn’t working, so they can’t show me the issues?
And that the sub frame issue is only advisory, needs to be monitored and is not destabilising my car?

I think i should still make a claim, i don't want it to collapse or be an issue later.

I have looked at your thread, pleased you were able to et it sorted.

The dealer told me today, MB don't pay for SLKs? Clearly not true. What a fiasco!
