Tinting my windows question

I have a 2008 CLC Class and I'm going to get the windows tinted. However, a friend of mine has said that I can't touch the front windows as the manufacturer would have already put a film on the windows that is so close to the 70% legal cut-off that I can't add any more. Is this true?

You can tint them but not much, no real point as per the link above you have to have at least 70% of light coming through.

As for the rears 20% film is the OEM tint

might sound daft but contact your local merc dealer and ask them who they you to do aftermarket tinting. at least you know you can trust then to get it right.

I had the same guy who does my local MB and Audi garages tinting, company is called Global Tint, not sure they cover your areas though

I'm due to have Global Tint do my windows on Thurs this week so, can report back on the outcome.

They did a great job on my car, still looks great, had 20% put on the B pillar back

What was the cost, roughly, if you don't mind me asking?

Did you have the rear screen tinted, too?

It was around £180 for all glass from the B Pillar back including the rear window.

I got fitted blinds that can be removed

some tints look purple from the inside which looks crap

Depends on the film used, I have Johnsons as I wanted the better quality
