Hello,

CLA220d AMG PLUS Night (68)

I've had my vehicle for over a year now, still factory Tyres but my nearside front (over 20k miles).

My offside front Tyre seems to be scrubbing the outer shoulder bald, there is still quite a bit of meat left on the rest of the tyre (see images). I did confront this to my dealer when taking in for a service, but they didn't seem overly concerned.

The tyre is the ContiSportContact5 255/40 R18, is this normal wear for this tyre on this car?

Second to this, I've becoming a bit focused on a handling quirk of the car after driving a hire car on holiday for a couple weeks, not sure if it's normal or an issue.

I find the steering very hard to maintain straight. It feels as if any tiny mm adjustment left or right front centre of the wheel change the turning circle of the car, no middle position tolerance, almost as if it is super sensitive, making it hard to find the centre position of the wheel. you're always having to make little corrections to to stay in lane on a straight motorway, and if after making a minor correction you let go of the wheel, it will continue that slight turning circle, not return dead straight (I'm only talking about motorway driving).

Any similar experiences with this car would be great to share!

Cheers

Get it checked on a Hunter tracking machine.

MB do have a habit of wearing the outer and inner edges of their front tyres due to the angle they turn their front wheels

Alignment/camber clealy out as its affecting only that wheel, if you think about it your wheel are forming a v when contacting the road. Is there any scrubbing when on full lock.
How many mm you got across the centre, they should wear evenly across.

I changed the nearside in March as the tyre became damaged, unfortunately I can't use the other side as a reference.

The tyre is probably 1-2mm from the wear indicator
