2009 W211 E-Class E280 Sport Estate (OM642 3-litre diesel V6), 3x remapped, now returned to stock
Hello, chaps,

The delivery of my 2009 E-Class estate has been delayed into next week because of the need to order a part. In the background, I'm quietly stocking up on things I'll add to the car but can't go any further until I know:

The location of all the 12V power sockets
Whether the car has a USB port for data/charging and, if so, where it is

I've also heard some rumours that the AUX port in the glovebox is only for iPhones - can someone adjudicate on that? I have Android only. Will a converter of some sort be required?

As always, I'm in awe of people's expertise and hope that someone out there can answer these specific questions.

Many thanks.

The W212 2011 I have has a rib connector in the glovebox. Comes with 3 cables, old iPhone, USB, & I cant remember what the third was. I have an iPod connected & run all my music from there.
Front & rear ashtrays have cigar sockets, I have double USB adaptors in those. I charge my iPhone from the front one, but it won't run data such as music on your phone.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It MAY be different on the 212 but that's helpful as a starting point. I don't know what a rib connector is, I'm afraid... :-(

My previous W211 (2004) had an aux socket in the glovebox.
I bought a male-male aux cable that worked to play music from my android phone through the speakers.
Not very satisfactory sound quality but did the job.

There was no usb port for charging but overcame that with a cigarette lighter plug with usb on the other end. Your car being more recent may have a usb charging socket.

Many thanks for the input. I think I'll probably end up doing the same as you did...

I did the same on my wife's 2010 SLK, worked well.
