does the w211 and the w212 have the same gearbox if so does it have the same torque converter
my 212 is an 12 mod, so you are saying i cant fit a 03 mod gearbox to a 212 12 mod? does it use the same torque converter?W211 had the 7G box and the later W212‘s the 7G+
There are W212’s with the 7G box as the W212 came in 2009 and the 7G+ box ~2012
I picked apart a 211 and i saw the same (i think) gearbox, 7G but im not sure what the dif between 7G and 7G+My 211 has the 5 speed.
Not sure, 211 and 212 didn see anything dif about themHas it anything to do with stop/start function? In the 7g there's an electric pump to keep the trans working while the engine is off.
Ah missed that it was the 646, you are indeed right that the 7 speed was only available in the 212 with the bigger engine,Mine is 2009, so a very late 211. Mine is also the 2.1 646 engine. It may be the V6 642 engine has the 7 speed.
Some years ago my C320 (V6 642) had the 7 speed.
If the car has stop / start, then it has the 722.9 + box, which is different to the 722.9 box, both of which have 7 gears. The 722.6 trans only has 5 gears. The VIN of the car will give you all the information that you need to identify your transmission. On the side of the box, there is Nr ID which must correspond with the box you are swapping ( if thats what you are going to do ) Be carefull,,,it can be a minefield. Same year, same car can have different parts. Not sure, 211 and 212 didn see anything dif about them
If i can use the same gearbox in a 12 mod 212 from a 03 211If you find a very late 211 and you have a very early 212 you could swap, the problem you will have is your car is right at a cross over point so you could have something different.
What issue are you trying to solve as at the moment we’re all just guessing with the question you asked
in short no I don’t think they will be compatibleIf i can use the same gearbox in a 12 mod 212 from a 03 211
Thanks, but do they use the same torque converter?in short no I don’t think they will be compatible
They had service on it, and only filled 4L of gearoil, so i had to replace the turbine sensor, and bc of the metal dust, it was alot of it, and its just acting weird when it hits the 3-4 gear, it wont use it, so somthings up... and sorry for my bad english, im from norway, its not our strong sideVery unlikely as there were a number of iterations over the years.
What’s wrong with your current gearbox that makes you think it’s all got to be replaced?
No. You will need the VIN code then speak to Mercedes to find the right part number. Thanks, but do they use the same torque converter?
I would try giving the gearbox a flush with new fluid and take it from there, it could be that there is some swaf in the channels at the moment causing pressure in the wrong part of the box (or not getting enough pressure) which is giving your these symptoms. A few hours, some fluid and it may save you having to replace the box, but it will at least confirm if and how badly damaged it may beThey had service on it, and only filled 4L of gearoil, so i had to replace the turbine sensor, and bc of the metal dust, it was alot of it, and its just acting weird when it hits the 3-4 gear, it wont use it, so somthings up... and sorry for my bad english, im from norway, its not our strong side
