Hi
I have changed my key fob so that on the first press it just opens the drivers door. I have also seen that if you hold down the open button on the key fob the windows should open as well as the door unlock. Is this a specific option for selected W211's or have I missed something when I try it?

I think what your referring to is summer opening.

If your windows are open some when you lock, and you point the fob at the drivers door handle for a second or so, the windows will close.

On opening you then point the fob at the handle again, for a second or so, the windows should open to the position they were at locking.

Standard across a lot of models I believe . Both my CLK no E used to do it , but with age something in the door handle sensor fails . It is repairable as a diy fix (there is stuff on YouTube ) but I keep forgetting that I need to repair mine .

Hi - I tried that but unfortunately it did not work. Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks - I will have a look on Youtube for the fix and post it here if I find it.

Well my 2005 C class was like that.
I've tried on both our 639 and 211. The long press causes all windows to open till released, same closing.

I.e. press to lock, with the end of the fob pointing toward the handle, well the black square within specifically. After a second all windows close (or open) till released, (up / down respectively).

I'm sure it does work like that for you but I think I have discovered what the issue is and it means that I will need to fix the sensor.

This is one of a few videos where soldering part of the sensor mechanism is considered the fix.

I’m sure I’ll follow your lead and get round to it , too many other jobs to do first .

Hi Paul,

should work as the above descriptions, as you know, it works on my 2005 E class.
Hope you get to the bottom of it…

Could anyone confirm if replacing the sensor with a pre loved part would work w/o the need for coding?
I would expect it to.

While looking at another Youtube video they also show how using "The Magic Button" will do exactly the same as you have described.

If your windows are open and you press and hold this it will close them and the sunroof if open too. To return the windows and sunroof to their previous position you press and hold again. It works on my car so it seems fairly certain that it is the sensor that will need soldering or replacing.

It works on the IR side of the key so you need line of sight to the receiver in the drivers door handle for it to work.

Yes I tried with it being close enough for that. Unfortunately it does not work.

A good thought.
Test the IR in the key with a digital camera. Aim the IR transmitter into the lens of a digital camera and there should be a flashing light on the monitor, if ok.
Do you have both keys?

I carried out the camera test with both sets of key fobs. Following that I tested both again on the car. I got the same result unfortunately but it was worth trying. Thanks.

After testing the fobs inside my house I got to the car and the boot was open. I didn’t think the signal would travel so far.

Most of them don't work, the solder joint cracks in the handle for the ir receiver.

Boot open is RF rather than IR.

The total open or close can be temperamental, you need to press and hold (and not dual press) and also maintain line of sight to the receiver
