w220 s320 cdi vs e66 730d?

Hello people im new to this forum and im on the verge of most likely purchasing an 04/05 s320 cdi. Ive done tonnes of research on this car as well as the e66 730d and im in the middle in what to get. I know that the s class is more of a luxury car compared to its rivals and that the 730d is more of a drivers car (sporty/comfort). I like both but ive heard that the ride quality of an s class is more comfortable than the 730d but the 730d's interior is alot better and modern aswel as the exterior.

What do you guys think?

I want something that delivers the power well. The 0-60 times on these 2 are similar (mbz-7.9, bmw-7.6)even though the 730d has about 25 bhp and 15 torques more which says to me that the s class layes its power better.

It is a big decision for me therefore i need you guys to help me out.

Biased here, but driven both, the 7 series is trimmed nicer and feels better made.

Somehow, the Merc wins you over, it certainly is more comfortable and the seats are better. The BMW appeals at first point of contact more, but after driving and being a passanger in a 220, I suspect in actual fact over time, the S is better. It just not feel like a barge, whereas the 7 series does

Thank you for replying st4. The air suspension is what gives the s class a lovely ride and i think the 730d also has air suspension but the standard run flat tires is what gives the beema a firm ride (from my research)

More reviews/opinions would be great and appreciated.

Ebay is full of BMW run flat tyres where people just do not like them.

Drive both, see which one you prefer, buy that.
