Hello I have a Mercedes s class s350d it has a intermittent knock right but sometimes when you rev it up so much it disappears could this be rod knock and it sounds like near top of engine
Ruled out turbo and does anyone know the procedure of taking the engines out on these

Something far wrong there! It could easily be rod knock or something amiss in the top-end as you suggest....or it might even be both if there has been an incident of oil starvation.
Removing that engine is not a job for the faint-hearted and even then you still need to find a suitable replacement and install it. The way forward depends on your competency in these matters, but I would be cutting my losses if I had to pay to have it fixed.

Regarding your question about the removal, from anything I've seen on the Internet, it lifts out complete with the gearbox after removing the rads and various electrical and mechanical connections.

Best of luck,

Ernie

Thanks Ernie sorry it took so long to get back to you

During summer here the engine will be removed to be stripped down to see what went wrong and if it can be fixed or atleast the block be salvaged it's being done by myself and a few family members as I'm not paying someone to take it apart cause that could cost thousands

That’s what is peculiar if it comes and goes. I’m not a mechanic so can’t even have an educated guess.
