Taxed the SL ready for its next service and MOT. I fear another expensive year for me. I also charged the consumer battery again, the last time was 6 weeks ago. The SL has been in the garage all that time but the only issues were the parking sensors not working but they came on line within 5 mins of starting the car.
I can’t keep up with your continual user pic changes buddy ;)

VW Scirocco. The Quattro, E350 CDi Blue Efficiency Sport Coupe, now both gone
After my success with cleaning the UnMerc yesterday, I tried the GLC today and now I have two nice clean cars.

All I can say is that I must be spending too much time reading this forum because I think I actually enjoyed cleaning and polishing it  and may even give it a go again sometime!

Nice job Steve!

I do love a clean red car.

Nice to get a convert to the detailing side of things too. :geek:

Completed the engine/radiator internal cleansing, put 50/50 antifreeze into the system (for the 4 time! It's starting to get expensive having to repeat this every 7 miles )
But guess what, my antifreeze is all over the street again!!!!
This Friday assemble money pit EClass is now left on the street where it can stay.
I'm going to start using the 55 again now, at least I can depend on the :rolleyes:55, even with her extra water capacity

More bits ordered for the 'Money Pit'.
I've now released the 55 from it's moorings and slipped it out of the boathouse and will be using it again. I just need a car that wont cost me an arm and a leg to run!

Put a catch tank in the under-tray and a 12v pump to recycle the coolant back into the header tank ;)

Driving the 55 to work and back is like a torpedo slipping through the ocean after being fired from a nuclear submarine.
The E Class although a hungry little blighter for new parts is such a joy to be in at my age to waft about in. So glad I like the old girl :D
The SLK......well so boring as seldom goes wrong and is too reliable, can't remember when I last opened the bonnet  The first time was just to have a look.
Today I'll take the SLK and rake the luxury of air scarf :)

Finally gathered up the courage to repair and refurb my seats - never attempted this before. Attached is a before shot, then one of the 'OMG what have I done?' moment and then the after.

Good job, what kit did you use to do the refurb?

Super drive to and from work in the 55 this morning
With all its water leaks you'll have thought the roof and boot lid would rattle
Mind you that was one thing the dealer said about the 55, how tight and rattle free it is :D
I thought, 'what a nice compliment to say about me'

Thanks Mark. I got various chemicals, fillers, leather paints and sealers from https://furnitureclinic.co.uk and got the how-to from the school of YouTube. I did the passenger seat first as a practice run, which took me about 5 hours altogether, including drying time between treatments. The driver's seat was worse, but my technique had improved by then so it took me about the same time, even though it was much more worn.

Two things would have made it easier - 1 - taking the seats out, which I didn't fancy doing because I reckon they weigh a ton and 2 - using an airbrush to spray the final coats. The product says you can use a sponge but I didn't find that very effective so I used a brush and it came up OK. Spraying would have given a finer finish but I didn't want to spend any more than I already had. Total cost of chemicals etc was £55. I was quoted just under £400 to have the two seats done professionally and yes they would have done a better job of fixing the hole, but I'm happy with the result.
