I believe that many of us who use Independents understand what we want them to do and, because we can speak to the person who will be doing the work, or at least supervising it, we make our own assessment and decide whether or not to entrust the work to the Indy.

In a larger business, with tiers of management, that is not something you can easily do.

Can you tell me why with just 2 bad complaints from indies in the past 12 months, and say 25 from MB dealers where you get your info from.

Simply because dealers are there to be shot down. They are the big faceless company taking lots of money but fred in the shed is "my mate" giving "great" ,"friendly" advise that is of course in my best interest... because its fred and he's my mate...!!

Out of all of the posts, every point you have made has been spot on.
All I have been trying to do is play devels advocate in the big debate. Simply beacuse I know there are "cowboys" out there. You and many others will never fall into the trap of being "had" by indi or dealer. But my message is to those who come on here for advise and are told "go to an indi and save £ save £ and save £".....

Its becoming patently obvious that nothing will change your opinion which you are perfectly entitled to. If you have a personal gripe against an particular MB specialist then go fight your own battles.

We can all make our own minds up regarding the service we have received from main dealers and independents and make our own choices. Its called market forces.

That is odd as 99% of the people coming on here I have never met, and do not know,,, Yes I know 2 indies very well, one left to start up on his own, and does very well,,the other was an employee of MB and I knew him longer as a friend than since he has been on his own.

Name another service trade where they take £115 per hour plus VAT
