2010 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Estate
Hello everyone.

I've been trying to play music through the multimedia port in the glovebox of my 2010 C63 since about May but haven't had any luck. I initially tried using the supplied Mercedes-Benz cables but couldn't get any signal through those. I've since purchased two bluetooth adapters designed specifically for that port and neither appeared to receive power. A specialist has scanned the car for error codes and found nothing, I've also reset two fuses related to the COMAND system and that didn't solve the issue either.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this issue?

Thanks

is it a USB, a propriety Merc socket, or just a 3.5mm din?

if you look on ebay hundreds on multimedia units available secondhand, which would suggest its very unreliable or the software of the system needs to behave better (which would usually involve a dealer software update)

There was a time around 2012 when apple changed the pin layout in their connectors. My Hi-Fi CD player has a dedicated female connector for i-devices and is designed to bypass the DACs in the i-device and use the CD players DACs, it worked great with my iphone at the time, but the replacement iphone and ipad did absolutely nothing via the same connector on the CD.

Even just typing that raised questions in my head about how valid my statement could be: it was just a USB that plugged into the CD, so how can pins on the phone side of the connector impact the signal through the USB connector which does not have any pins? I don't know. All I know is that the above scenario is what happened to me and the CD manufacturers tech support told me the above answer and said it will not work, apologised and said "we wont be doing this again". They seemed just as cheesed off with Apple for this as I was.

apple certainly swapped from 5 to 12 volts or vice versa at some point... as for other fun the 30 pin old connector can indeed do lots of stuff...

on a BMW the control is 30pin and the sound uses 3.5mm...
same on a Ford, but oddly the Y cable for each is not compatible across both brands...
but with ipod Kit Merc use I thought they use analogue signals from the 30pin connector
but then when the S W221 came in, it all changed
there are 2 Merc in line amps (for older cars) to wind up the vol but these just pick up faint clicks (in time with the music) on the 221 from the 30pin
there are genuine 30 pin to lightening connector adaptors that let you attach new stuff to old 30 pin connections

May be cheap enough to have another go?
