Hi Guys, so i had a issue with my engine when the tensioner died last week - See here
To get to the bottom of a Whooshing noise when i am accelerating i decided to take all the inter-cooler and air pipes off, and re-seat them. I also decided to open the air filter box.
Heres what i found:
1. The air filter had a black (oil?) stain where at the top around where the air goes to the engine - I think that is oil / dirt it has sucked through from somehwere.
2. The oil filter at the bottom is covered in oil residue - Like the black gritty stuff. Which also covered the box inside the air filter.
3. Attached are pics of the Mounts / rubber gromets, that i presume hold the box to the engine. One is missing, other is really loose.
Could the mounts be causing the noisy engine that sounds like a bus?
Could the missing mount, and damaged mount also be allowing oily / burnt vapour of the engine to be sucked through the holes, into the filter?
