Hi All,

I am new to the forum, have just bought myself my first Mercedes…. Very pleased with it so far. It’s a E320 V6 auto diesel.

I have managed to connect my iPhone via Bluetooth and can operate it using the steering wheel which is great. I can’t however connect audio and am wondering the best way to do this ? I also would like to charge my iPhone in the car. How does everyone do this ??

Please see pics of what connections I have at the moment. Not sure if best to get an adapter for the lighter plug or use the connection in the glove box.

Thanks in advance.

Martin

Hello and welcome,

You've the Bluetooth cradle in the armrest, which is what your phone is connecting to. The other lead is thr iPod integration lead, you can plug an older ipod k to that. Or change the lead for audio in to the head unit.

For charging your phone I'd get a car charger and plug it into tour 12v socket. I use Anker ones and have been impressed with them

I would use the gbox cable for charging, keeps it all tidy and out the way. The same cable is used for playing the audio of the phone to the head unit (thats not streamed via bluetooth).

Note some cheap connectors will only charge and not play media (they are cheap as not all the pins were wired up).

Thanks for your comment Mioba, what’s the gbox ? Is that the cable in the glove compartment ? Can I get an adapter or to connect my phone or do I need to change the cable ? Is this an easy job to DIY ? Thanks

glove box - sorry.

Can you post the entire pic of the cable, It would be good to know if you have the mercedes media interface or if its a 3rd party add on.

I assume your iphone is lightening and not the 30 pin as in the pic.

OK not really sure what your looking for. But took some photos of the cable. The flocked plastic panel popped out very easily and I snapped a pic of the cable termination at the back. Let me know if you would like to see anything else. Thanks for your help. Martin
