AFAIK 'R' denotes a reconditioned part

The part "A1402712601" is the part number for the transmission housing only and is NOT the part you ought to source for your car. The housing may be identical across all 722.6 boxes, but the contents of it (the stuff that actually matters) is very much model-dependent. You must buy the exact same number as your car already has.

This is something like 722.6xx. For example, the W210 2.7CDI is 722.634. Fitting that particular gearbox to, say, a 3.2CDI is absolutely not recommended. They have different programming for shifting patterns, torque settings, and so on. They may look identical, seem identical, and cost the same amount of money, but it is NOT a good idea to use a different number than your car came with originally. If you do a VIN number check on your specific car, it will reveal your exact number. Look only for that number.
