Say it very quietly, but I'm considering a V8 petrol with a 17Kw electric motor E-hybrid as my next car. Puts out around 680bhp.
It's on a very short list with an AMG.
Shush, I won't tell anyone. Sounds interesting, come on, spill. :)

There will be nothing on our roads that isnt taxed no matter how green because of this greedy goverment.
Just as well this government won’t be in power much longer, although the next government won’t be any better because this country is wrecked.

If you think owning an MB is an invitation to have your wallet raped, just think what damage a Labour government would do to it!! Not saying the Conservatives are much better these days, but for decades I have described Labour as the politics of jealousy!!

However, I do not want to start a political discussion so please do not take this post further, keep your thoughts to yourself not the forum!!

Indeed - politics are forbidden on here (thank goodness)

Absolutely,
Politics are banned as soon as I have made my point or dressed something that is clearly politics with a large obfuscating cloak.

Does anyone know what's up with Sir Beir Starmers car?

I heard it only does U-Turns Tee hee................................

Obvious… it’s all going into the channels of corruption. When they need more, manipulate the taxes.

We need taxation to pay for good public services. The trouble is our Civil Service is so inefficient that much of the money is wasted.

As an example, I am watching a crew repaint lines on the New Forest District Council car park across from herself’s flat. It doesn’t need doing - this is the “before” picture

Is it more a case of just spending money, as if it’s not spent, it’ll be cut next financial year (April)..

If you have the patience to stick to the end, this video is very telling as to the value of a new car 3 years later.
Long story short, this owner is £20k in negative equity after owning a Taycan for 3 years and wanting to sell it.

Classic case of over leverage.

He bought a car that he couldn’t afford and gambled on future values where there is little data to rely on as EV is fairly new.

I wonder why he does not have a GFV, bank loan maybe?

I did wade through a lot of it but he just drones and drones, can he not edit?

The numbers are a shock though.

Interesting that Porsche don't want it as it looks in great order.

It's probably a salutary tale of don't believe the hype from motoring journalists who waxed lyrical about the Porsche electric go-kart without exploring the costs of ownership, something most of them don't have to.

Keeping these electric lemons on the road is going to make some owner's pips squeak, we are in a very odd market time.

Yes, I’ve watched quite a few videos on his Porche EV journey, irritatingly long as you say, there is some interesting content though and an endorsement of how fickle government interference in the market can be to your pocket so on the whole well worth doing - I don’t think it’s a surprise to most of us the market was ready for Hybrids but not full blown EVs en masse

Interesting points, but, I didn’t have time to watch every second of it. I didn’t think a new battery would cost that much to replace, something like £10k would be ok in my book as if one doesn’t have to do oils and filters etc every 5k then other key fluids and ice engine maintenance items to pay. One can start putting that aside over the years towards the cost of a battery. I liked his point about what is a pit stop in an ICE car, is far from a pit stop in an EV as you should be able to just go and detour to wherever you need, knowing that you may need to fuel but, without the niggles associated with charging.

I’m not sure about his 911 choice either as when I got my w221 as I couldn’t find a car for my mum, I thought about just treating myself for once and spending some of my daughter’s inheritance on a 911 turbo. I was stunned to see they had rocketed up from the likes of £130k to £220k! That’s bricks and mortar money, not cat in hells chance of me paying that for a car. Now they have dropped to around £165k ish so that’s circa £55k lost in 2 years! That’s bonkers! All this financing stuff is beyond me, I’m old school, save cash, buy cash, and sell the old fashioned way and always buy something your happy to keep no matter what.

It must be hard to hear your Porsche Dealer say we don't want it even at a Knockdown price when there is nothing it seems wrong with it.

I know someone who got a £40,000 kicking for his AMG something speedy or other in just a year but at least they would take it.

We are in strange times indeed as the punters get their heads around this electric car malarkey.

I wonder if this is just a repeat of what happened with the first round of mass-market electric cars, one for the historians I suppose.
