Hi all
When opening the central locking on my 97 SL320 the doors unlock immediately but it takes a long time for the boot to unlock. Can hear the pump working and it does eventually unlock. So I'm not locked out, but this doesn't seem normal and I'm concerned the pump will eventually burn out from this extra work and or I'll get locked out of the boot. Plus it is an extra battery drain.
Testing with the lid open I can't hear any air leaks. So I took apart the vacuum actuator on the barrel to investigate. Visibly it looks fine including the diaphragm inside. Pictures below. It does feel quite stiff though to operate. If I blow into it I can't blow strong enough to flip it to the unlock position. From what I've read it sounds like you should be able to do that but can anyone confirm?
One thing that looked odd though is the connector for the three pin electrical connector - inside the actuator there appears to be nothing connecting to this. Wondering if a previous owner has messed with this in the past and taken something out. Should there be something in here?
Also does anyone know the part number and if you can get these new still?
Thanks
