Hi all

Just recently passenger side door closes but the window does not mate with seal all the way round. You end up with a 3mm gap between the window and the vertical seal next to the smaller window ie where the door opens.

When the door is shut you can push the window "in" by hand so it goes under the seal. I think forcing it this way could make it worse. Opening and closing the window also works but you need to be in the car. Also the window still sometimes sits on the seal rather than under it.
The wind noise is really bad - may as well have the window open!
Have tried wd40 on the seal-no real change.

Is the window out of line -need adjustment or do the seals need greasing??

Thanks for any advice.

I have exactly the same issue with the drivers door on my SLK, I have lived with it so far by gently pushing the door down when shutting it, that normally makes sure the glass is under the seal, then just a little push on the glass to check. Would be interested to know what adjustments can be made to sort it, but at the moment it is just one of those quirks I've got used to ;)

I did not see it was a 170 before:( the rubber over the door can be replaced.

One thing that works well is to place a piece of cardboard over the top of the glass about 3-4mm thick,, turn the ignition on and, close the window with the cardboard over the top of the glass, close the window and hold the switch in the up mode for 10 sec, and it should memorize this position and close not quite as high

Hi all
Got car back from garage with following advice!
"passenger side window glass stop broken
window glass requires replacing £266.00 incl vat and fitting"

"advise door panel removed to check window glass"

Is this really my only proper fix or is there a way to fix this ??

thanks

I have the same problem. Window has a gap. I have had the car for a year. It's already been to have this problem fixed, and cost me, even though I had only had the car for two weeks when it first happened. It's a hard top convertible. The roof hasn't been down at all for months. There was a clunk from the door at the same time the window went out of sync, it did exactly the same last time too.

Hello and welcome to the forum :D:D

If you feel up to it you can have the papers, but the door card has to come off

My problem with the window and door was fixed yest, this morning I picked up my car. I stopped for shopping and when I went to shut the door, there was the old familiar clunk and the window gap appeared again. Garage said to phone Monday morning and it might have to have a new window.

What should I say to the garage tomorrow so it gets fixed properly? Any advice welcome :) I'm concerned that everytime I shut the car door, the window stopper will drop off.

I have spoken to the garage today, who are not a Mercedes specialist. They are asking if I can find out where to buy the glue for the window stopper, and what particular glue is needed. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
