I will check it. As Frontstep says, cheaper though.

These days there shouldnt be huge variations in fines/points etc.

If anyone is interested, and im sure ive said this before, download the free sentencing guidelines app onto an ipad or tablet (doesnt work on a phone) you can then browse through just about every offence and its guidelines.

It has been before a Jury of Mercedes Benz drivers there is no higher Court in the land.

The lower courts BMW, Volvo, and the special measures Lexus one are of little consequence to our good folk making progress.

I've just sat and typed up a lovely reply but the f'ing browser decided to reload just before posting so here is the summary as i've not got the patience and time to retype it up.

2x Conditional offer fixed penalties received 23rd Nov, dated 6th Nov, so 2.5 weeks later. no post date on envelopes.

choice of accept 2x 3pts and assc'd fines - £200. leaving 6pts on license to 'play with'. (Risk of ban if he gets caught again)

challenge the 2x COFP's in court to argue they should be one continuing offence. (Cost and risk of failing to save 3pts on license, or magistrate/judge issuing 4pts each offence and increased fine.)

one COFP shows 09:58, on one named road, other shows 09:59 on another named road, yet both roads 'run in' to each other as one continuous road through the village, next part states 'North West Bound, Oakley, Beds' on both. neither show a speed, just 'exceed 30mph speed limit' on letter.

Need to now decide to challenge, or accept and live with 6pts. I'm strongly minded to suggest fighting as i would say should be 1x continuing offence, as it is the same physical road?

Thoughts. Thank you all as always.

He got David Beckham off for speeding on the A34 by pass here in Handforth many years ago. His bill. £6.000.

The stamps would come in handy for sending your speeding fines off. :D

Here's a question whilst we're on the topic of speed cameras. Correct me if I'm wrong. The camera is set for lets say 40 MPH. When a car passes it at say 50MPH it triggers it off and it flashes twice as the car goes over the lines painted on the road. Between flash one and flash two the camera works out how many lines the car has crossed over in that time and it can tell how fast the car was going. As we all know the lines are painted in the middle of the lane. Now here's the thing that's always puzzled me. If a motor cycle was doing 50MPH or faster and went to the right or left of the lines how could the camera determine the speed it was going.

By putting a ruler across the picture (virtual ones now available) so the back of the bike can be lined up with a line and then repeated on the second picture

Likewise with a Transit coming from a 40 into a 30. I was in the 30 and he was coming the other way much faster than 30. Truvello new camera on my side pointing towards me.

Ahh now I understand thanks to all for that. I went on a speeding course about 5/6 years ago and I asked the tutors the question, and they didn't know.:)

I thought the radar on the cameras recorded the speed and the two photos and white lines was just backup to give some physical evidence if the radar reading was challenged.

Yes you could be right. My take on it was that the camera is set at the speed limit for the road the veh passes the camera faster than the set speed and how many lines the veh passes over between the two flashes determines how fast it was going.

My one and only speeding fine in 13 years was in a laden company van in 2018. Lazer camera(?) in a van 'caught' me doing 47 in a 40 zone.
Except in the photos including the 'evidential' photo, i was stopping at and waiting at a central reservation to turn right across a dual carriageway. Physically impossible to be doing 47 at that point or on approach as i would have crashed. I would have struggled in my car.
I questioned this with the 'safer roads team' who bluntly and rudely replied that 'i should watch top gear to see how fast modern vans are' faster they may be, but they still have to comply with the laws of physics. I ran this past a solicitor, who told me that it would be cheaper to just do speed school, rather than challenge in court as it would be hard to prove that i couldn't have been doing 47mph 10m before a stationary wait right hand turn.
Ever since i have had little respect for the 'safer roads team', although i was overjoyed that recently they had to rescind a stack-load of NIPs/prosecutions as they had made an 'admin error' which roughly translated into that they were issuing fines at any speed over the speed limit, and not the 10% plus 2. 'rule'.
I have even less respect now that i regularly see them hiding where-ever they please, but are rarely seen in known black spots or 30 limits which people dangerously overspeed through, where, you know, they would actually make a difference.

My ex wife was caught at 31 in a 30 and prosecuted for it. Not sure where you got the 10% + 2 ‘rule’ from? Its not law as far as im aware. The sentencing guidelines clearly show 31 - 40 in a 30mph zone is 3 points and a band A fine.

No it is not law, I believe it is totally discretionary :)
