This is a crazy job to do and all of the heater out.

I wonder if it is the blower relay at fault this is the M40K 17 it sits just under the dash just below the steering wheel

dash out! odd that, it is a doddle on a 638 vito, i guess the v-class has a different setup?

The heater box has to come out and all the A/C discharged and water lines taken off plus a lot more

The blower simply became progressively worse so I,m guessing its more than the relay but I will certainly pull it and replace in the forlorn hope that it may be this simple.I will keep you posted thankyou

Thanks Malcolm please send me the info you think I will need and thank you for your continuing help

If it's the blower motor you don't need to remove the dash. The motor is located behind and under the glovebox, remove the panel beneath the glovebox for access. A simple job which will take about 40 minutes.

I can sell you a good used motor if you require

Just remove the panel above the front passengers knees, and it is staring you in the face!
