Hello.Im new to Mercedes ownership having mainly Triumphs but now the owner of a 1973 200D.It seems to be quite a rare model in that it has column change and bench seats. It was originally supplied by a dealer in Hong Kong, perhaps thats why the spec is different to UK ones? `Does anyone on here know about the different variants? It is a project vehicle so I will be looking for various parts in the future, especially chrome trim and a front grille.I would be grateful if anyone could recommend suppliers of parts for this model. Thanks in advance.

Im sure I will be contacting you soon once Ive assessed what parts Im going to need.I havent actually got the car yet,its being delivered tomorrow.I think I will be needing a grille and a '200' badge and other bits of chrome trim. No doubt I'll be wanting lots more once I start work on it.I'll be in touch!

I have fond memories of my W115's One we called 'Old Rattley' 240d think it was a '73? and the other was a '68 250, I prepared this car as a replacement of the 280se car I used to race, however the 250 never could match the performance even with it being lightened and I shelved it. Great cars and they can be made into something really sweet to play with ;)

Oh I see you had Triumphs before, I've got 3, 2 not on the road and 1 playing up

The Hong Kong dealer would probably be Zung Fu Motors, the main MB agent in Hong Kong. Hong Kong cars tend to be very highly spec'd because there was (is?) a limit on total number of cars imported. The dealers soon worked out that they could earn more money selling the same number of more expensive cars....

If you think UK MB dealers charge like wounded bulls, you should try Zung Fu!
