I am having trouble with over heating when stalled. I have read some post regarding the same problem, and the solution seems to be the thermo switch on top of the engine (2 pin red connector). My problem is that when I short the wires (to test if the magnet fan is working ) the fuse blows. Is this normal?
I also tried putting ground to the wire connected to the thermo switch beneath the fan (yellow 1 pin connector) When I do this, the fan starts immediately.

Any ideas?

Dud switch. It should close to earth at 98 to 102C.

12v is applied to the solenoid, the switch is on the earthy side.

Ignore the Haynes wiring for the fan.

dud switch? :p i have changed the switch beneath the fan ( the one where I put ground on the wire, and the fan started (yellow plastic on it)) but that did not do any good. that is a one-pin switch, and it seems like it's more normal to have two (?)
but the "test" I did with the other switch (shorting the two connected wires on the one with red plastic on it) on top of the engine just makes the fuse blow. is that supposed to happen?
