Hello all,

After your direction please.

A well used 2.3-16v (220k miles) that I've inherited and am trying to get going again.

One of the issues I have is with the electric sunroof - it will go back at the press of the button. Every time. A bit at a time. Absolutely no delay. However, most times when I depress the switch the other way.....nothing! So it can take up to 15 minutes of sitting there pushing the button before it finally comes forward again. I think I have been lucky in always getting it back tbh, so I would really like to clear this one.

The second issue which I've not noticed before, but did for the first time the other day is a similar behaviour from the passenger front electric window. Went down fine, but would not go up for a few times depressing the button. In the end, went up fine as expected.

Important to state that the running speed of both closures is as per normal. There doesn't appear to be any problem once it is finally going.

As always, very much appreciate your knowledge on this.

Thanks,
Rob

I would suspect oxidised switches in both case. You will need to gain access to the switches, with spray contact cleaner.

Windows switch is easy, just pop the trim up. Sunroof a tad more involved, but not by much.

I have had that exact thing on our w168 a class. For us a reset did the job but its done it a few times, all after a disconnect, reconnect of battery.sometimes I had to do the reset more than once, maybe my switches also have oxidation. Something I will investigate if resets stop resolving the issue

Thanks for the response - can I clarify what you mean by a reset?

For me key 2nd position,, window down to bottom hold down till hear a small click.up window ,same thing.
I had to do this in stages as at first window only IMG_20201025_154020.jpg moved in stop n starts it should be same thing for roof,or was for me.this info should be in yr owners book under reset windows

I don't think the 190e has the one touch windows/sunroof control, so it may not apply.
