W219 facelift vs w221 facelift 5.4 V8

Hi all ,
I am new to the forum.
First thing is first , little background. I had CLK 270cdi , which I sold due to London ULEZ. Then bought another brand which turned to be not reliable . Now I am at a point where I am about to go back to beloved MB . Within my budget I am split between buying CLS 500 W219 LCI and S500 W221 LCI . I know they are not even close one to another. But my main concern is now reliability. Can someone give some experience with either one ?

If you sold your CLK270CDI because of ULEZ, you are going to get hammered by ULEZ with either of the 500's.
As regards to the reliability I have little knowledge on that, but there are some on here who are experts on 500's.

Thanks for reply sonic , but according to tfl that engine is out of ulez.

The CLS probably won’t have ABC suspension the S will , which should be factored in to future costs

But may have airmatic, depending on spec.

Either way, they are going to be roughly the same.

Thanks that did surprise me, you have done your homework.
I have always likes the S class, if I ever sell my E350CDI it will be for a S class.

Even our 2002 SL500 is Ulez compliant.
It's diesels that struggle.

So is my 2005, S211 E55. Could zoom up and down The Mall all day long.
However my days of driving around the city of London are long gone .
