Had to go out for "essential" shopping today. Well, I drove and waited in the car whilst the hard work was done... Funny how these supermarket thingies are so far apart.... For the record, we visited 4 in total and went in 2 of them. 2 had queues to get in and 2 didn't. I hadn't realised that I had not driven the car since the 4th March which was our last lunch out! The SLK looked good in the sunlight and I blew a few cobwebs away down the bypass...;) Still got to give it a polish and wax yet and get the wheels off for and clean / wax the hard to reach bits on them.

Windows are up, a bit girly ;-). Mine were down on my 10 mile round emergency provision drop off trip to my Mother yesterday, she lives 1.5 miles away but I needed to take the Country route to avoid all the traffic, cyclists and to charge the batteries (car too)!

Like you the car had not been driven for 10 days whilst I was isolated, battery showed signs of being a bit low as roof refused to auto drop without engine running (the horn bibbed at me)..

Dug out the spoiler I'd purchased from the MB Germany used parts shop (paid 1/3 of the new price) - polished off all the scuff marks / shop soiling and it is perfect. Now need a few warm days so I can fit it.
I thought all R231 in UK came with boot spoiler and only USA versions didn't?

Does yours have one? AFAIK it would have been an extra.

No not here or the USA - only the AMGs when I purchased mine - they have added a spoiler to the 400 & 500 on the current "package"

Windows up are good a low speeds and cold days but they look really ugly. Car looks much nicer with the windows down.

Yes all SL500 had them fitted as standard and most SL400 I have seen on the roads had them.

It was part of the AMG sport package which was standard, consisted of AMG wheels, mats, spoiler and I think the Carbon Fibre boot trim...

Would they be the bigger spoilers that came out on earlier models of R231. The one I have is quite small.

Mine is the AMG line (on the early facelifts).

The problem was the speed limiter ( in the passenger seat) complained it was too cold and windy...

Treadmill has to be the worst form of exercise I've ever done. So boring and always reminds me of the many "Stress ECGs' that I had over the years for my job.

I washed my wife's car and felt guilty I'd let it get so grubby. I have so much more interest in cleaning the Merc. But truthfully, they all look better when they're clean (and probably go faster).

Break from gardening for half an hour, considering a list of brake parts and what I should do. Discs, pads front and rear (with rear shoes), flexible hoses and ware sensors.
The discs are OK and the flexibles show no sign or rust on the metal or cracking of the rubber, all it really needs is pads, so should I just bung in the pads or make everything nice and shiny and be done with it for a few years?
I hear the call back to the garden!:(:(

I think its standard fitment after you get to a certain point in your life...
Not always... What you thought was standard fitment was actually an expensive option...

Just pads is my vote , I bet you are a gentle braker anyway . Due to change my E class discs and pads all round when the weather warms . Front and rear discs are original at 103k :D (second set of pads though )

If you have a agreeable speed limiter it comes with an on off button ;)

Mine doesn't. And it's aware of speed limit signs too. I've been thinking of using gaffer tape over the warning device but can't think of a way to install it without doing myself damage.
