Hi all, Can you let me know if you recognize these wheels as being official Mercs?

Reason I am asking is that, there's a locking bolt on these.... and I don't have the key to unlock them... Apparently if there are official Mercs, a dealer would have a master key... if not... then it's the drill bit solution... not pretty... but necessary as I have a big bulge on one of the tyres, than now needs urgent changing. thanks.

Olivier

By the way there aren't the original size, as you would have guessed, these alloys host some 265/35 zr 18 rubbers...

Thanks.

They are not OE wheels

Can you take a picture of the offending locking bolts and post it up?

There should be no need to drill them out, most garages today have lock nut/bolt removers that work very efficiently and it only takes a few minutes to remove the bolts

Oh the second bit was added after I posted,,,MB dealers keep the 70 different sizes to check what you have,,and they will get you the one that you need

You could get a tight fitting socket and a great big hammer! It works with softer locking bolts, the harder ones are a nightmare.

Just had a call with McGard, the well-known german company, it was a stab in the dark but the lady who handles customer services there, reckons it's on of their old bolts and will therefore ship me a new key asa i have provided all guarantees it is my car. Hopefully the end of the nightmare?

I know it's not an OEM, but at this stage I am just hoping the Merc Stratford on Saturday will play ball, manage to remove them and refit official Merc ones...

I read on and old thread that Halford is selling a 'universal' unlocking bolt... Not anymore I think... Probably making yob's life too easy...

Try Fik-Kwit  for removal, they usually have the correct tool..

Whether they know how to use it or not is a different story
