So, I have an AdBlue malfunction message appear, along with the EML and a count-down (miles). Went to my Merc garage - Who ran the diagnostics (with Merc software), which returned an 'AdBlue Pump malfunction' (Change pump).

So, they ordered the new pump part and fitted into the car. Ran the diagnostics again and the same Error message appeared.

They thought it might have been a faulty Part so, ordered another new one - Fitted the new part again, and yet the same message appears - even though the new pump is fitted on the car.

Any thoughts on why this might be the case? ----- Is it because the car still recognizes the new pump part as the old one??

Thanks

Maybe? New pump requires coding in and or the dreaded update. To make it shake hands with the "brain"?
Other than that, possibly wiring issue, short ect that's produced the origional error and continues with the 2 replacements as issue unresolved?

I didn’t realise it was possible to just replace the pump my impression was that the pump and urea tank came as an assembly. Progress if you can just replace the pump but you may need a software update to register it to the car

Wiring issues are ruled out as they re-fitted them after the new pump failed twice.........

In regard to the coding, I've spoken to some - who believe that the pump needs some SCN coding done on it - so it relays the correct message back to the cars ECU, to say that this new part is updated and measuring correct...... i hope that this is the case, although, as with many AdBlue issues on these cars it's a long road!

Yeah, you can just remove the pump for the main transfer box. I think the software update may be the case here...... I'm just surprised that the guys trying to Fix the issue didn't recognize it or think to update the part

Whereabouts are you? Maybe we can recommend a better Indy?

I have to say aside from the adblue woes, it seems to be a faff for this indy, considering the ones we know can usually get these things tested and resolved methodically and efficiently.

Just been to a Merc Specialist - Who updated the car's software to the latest update. Then made sure that the Engine, transmission & AdBlue Modules were also up to date to the latest software through SCN coding.

They then ran the diagnostics on the car, with the new Ad-blue pump fitted, and the same AdBlue pump malfunction error appeared!! - the remedy? = Change the ad-blue pump. So back to square 1!

Got the car booked in with Merc - Main dealer, soon. Very curious to see what they come up with, besides a heavy bill.

I don't see how they can't come to the same conclusion, given the garage I used, use the same diagnostic software and Original Merc Parts......

Replaced a few control units too. Shouldnt be too hard to diagnose.

UPDATE: Ad-blue metering pump malfunction -

So went to Merc - who ran a diagnostic £174 - to tell me the same problem my garage told me, 'The AdBlue metering pump needs replacing' - initially i was told that the part is unavailable in the UK and Germany and they cannot carry out works until the new-year- which is not what you want to hear when you have a countdown (60miles) before engine will not start.

I don't see how the part could be unavailable throughout the whole country - when just 2 weeks ago my garage ordered 2 brand new pumps. I told them this - they said they would double check - Turns out they had one at another dealership....Suprise!!

So they are going to do the work now with the pump - However i have a feeling that they are going to come to the same conclusion as my garage did.... Where the fault, along with the adblue countdown will remain...

Oh btw, its not a wiring issue they concluded - just the pump that was returning a fault

will keep posted!
