Hi everyone, a couple of months ago some fool smashed off my drivers side mirror, the whole units pretty smashed up and i've been getting by with a caravan mirror that i taped into what was left of the body, duck taped to my car. Not very nice!

I've been searching tirelessly on spare part websites, but the only wing mirrors i can ever find are auto folding ones, which mine is not. Do you know if its possible to fit an auto folding one? I thought it would be a case of simply fitting it on and just not connecting up the auto fold wires, but i'm probably being very ignorant.

I'm really stuck as MB want around £450 to replace it, which is madness, especially as if i could find a spare one it would be about £250.

Does anyone know where i can find a manual fold drivers side black mirror, or if its at all possible to fit an power folding one and just not attach the wires?

Thanks,

Luke

You could try euromerc parts or breakers yards like dronsfields in the hope they might have one.

Failing this, sometimes dealerships buy in extra parts but cant shift them, fill in the enquiry form on the inchape mercedes parts website with a part number from your current mirror and see if they can source one that is already at a dealership and barter with them.

You could also try Hills Motors Salvage with the part number as there is a mirror on ebay but doesnt say if its folding or not

Good luck

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
E bay will be a good bet for a mirror, yes an auto fold could be used but it could be difficult to re engage if pushed hard, they can be screwed up so that it cannot move
