Hello I’m relatively new to the Mercedes world I’m wanting to know if the pictures I’ve posted of my system is a COMAND NTG5*2, or Garmin Map Pilot? How do I know?

Car is a 2016 220d C-Class W205

Reason I ask is because the system runs relatively slow when selecting functions from the navigation wheel and feels really clunky. Does a software update if available help with this problem?

Thank you

I would use Waze on your mobile instead, much better and more informative

Thank you, I’m already using Waze, but that’s not what I was asking.

I know, it is my suggestion, your maps seem up to date so nothing you can do to make it better, MB Nav is clunky at best

Appreciate your suggestions, annoyingly the whole system seems like it’s running on 1g of ram, switching between functions etc all take a little longer while it plays catch up.

the map pilot is a simple addon with a box of tricks usually in the glovebox, the NTG5.2 is a comand unit and a fair bit more sophisticated, when operating well the comand should seem way better than a phone falling off the dash - which is illegal to touch whilst driving (if its to aid data transfer) which using maps is

Thanks for the link bud, the below is what I pulled off from lastvin and shows this. Having done further research there is the option to retro fit Apple car play but it’s just a slow responding screen kinda like waiting for a windows pc to boot up before you can open any programs. Guess I’ll have to either spend extra for a new unit or put up with it

Interesting combination
you're not wrong...
350 MBCONNECT - ECALL EUROPE EMERG. CALL SYS. GEN. 2 (high end toy ?)
355 PREINSTALLATION FOR NAVIGATION RETROFITTING (but if that's the case why would this be not fitted)
357 SD CARD NAVIGATION
35A VGS D4-0, D3 PATTERN
3U1 EUROPE/CIS COUNTRIES/MONGOLIA HEAD UNIT

without another UK car data card to compare side by side - this reads like its either not a standard European model and or its got mix and match in car toys ?

I'd want to know if its std. kit and muddled software / mix and match hardware that is arguing / data card threw silly info

if its def std. kit, in a std. UK (or europe) car, I be going to get it plugged in and beaten with a big stick online from Germany till it behaved

yes, I saw,

to me - its either all messed up or its not standard with mix and match confusion (hence the slow running / lethargic behaviour), if it was just the data card is muddled the car should behave better ?

My 2018 GLC with NTG5*2 says exactly the same on the VIN decoder “3U1 EUROPE/CIS COUNTRIES/MONGOLIA HEAD UNIT”

Whilst I can’t make any useful comment on your original enquiry regarding the nav system, I can assure you that this little detail is far from a ‘high end toy’ from personal experience.
It is a simple concept but has huge potential benefit to driver and passengers in the event of an accident or emergency and your nav is at its heart.
Be grateful it’s in your cars specifications and hope you never need it….
