Recently I have gone through a problem on my 2005 C200 CDI (Automatic). Not everytime, but some times, the car doesn´t change any gears. The PRND in the dashboard won´t show any indicator on what gear the car is, the C/S modality won´t work, and the car will be stuck in first gear, even in Park or Netrual. Also, it will not switch to higher gears other than the first. This problem has mostly occurred when the car was left more than 3 days without being driven, but it has also happened on normal mornings.

As above, go to your Mercedes specialist and have the fault codes read.
If you let us know your location someone may be able to recommend someone suitable.

Selector module has dropped off the network, the missing dash readout is the giveaway here.

Sounds like a gear selector problem. My E320: diags showed gear selector position implausible. Got a used selector which turned out to be worse than the original. Resoldered the 4 opto switches (fiddly, but do-able). Been ok since. Note: these were built in the early lead-free solder days, so a likely failure point.
