Hi,

My A180d Sport Pre-Glow light appeared on the dash and has stayed on for every journey I’ve made in the last week. I took my car to an independent garage this morning and they’ve run some diagnostics for me and said that the error is showing as an internal electrical fault with one of the glow plugs. They said they’ve turned the warning off and if it comes back on to look at getting it seen by Mercedes.

I’m concerned now though that when I put the key in the ignition and the cluster lights come on (pic attached), the pre-glow light does not show at all. Normally (before the problem) this would show for a couple of seconds then go off but now it’s not there at all.

Has the garage done something to turn this off permanently? Can that even be done?

Thanks in advance!

Did they just reset the code? It could be they removed the bulb or it has blown. You need to ask them.

Yeah he said it was just reset, said sometimes they will go off and stay off but it the fault persists the light may come back on.

But shouldn't it come on when you are starting the car to tell you when the glowplugs are heating and then go off when they are ready?

If the fault returns the lamp will light up again, its not so easy to take the bulb out.
The garage is not that good if he said its a problem with the plugs and go to the dealer if it returns IMHO.
